Bible Art Journaling

What is it?

Bible Art Journaling is the practice of using art and/or words to journal about your faith or to write out Bible Verses - whether it is inside a Bible or not. This creative practise is a sacred time of worshiping God, reading the Bible, praying and creating artwork.

There are a few terms that are sometimes used interchangeably such as: Faith Journaling (journaling about the faith inside a journal, not necessarily in a Bible), Creative Worship (the practice of worshiping God while creating artwork), Bible Art, Bible Journaling, Creative Faith Journaling, etc.

Whether you consider yourself to be Christian, Catholic, prefer not to be labeled, or are someone seeking to learn more about God and the Bible - you are welcomed here and can join in this meaningful faith-building practice as well.

You can create inside a Bible, a hymnal, a journal, a sketchbook, on loose paper or however you want!

Art Supplies

What art supplies do you need for Bible Art Journaling?

All you really need is a pencil, eraser and some paper (or a Bible). Many people also enjoy using a black marker/pen and a grey (or colour of your choice) marker to add shadows. I consider these tools to be your basic kit.

I typically use a black marker, watercolours, highlighters, gel pens and a pencil. But sometimes I enjoy layering paper, using stickers and adding paint pens for some exciting creative play!

If you are just getting started - keep things simple! Don’t overwhelm yourself. But if you are comfortable with creating and already have a number of art supplies - just remember that what you already have will likely be just perfect.

There are so many ways to do Bible Art Journaling!

In our shop, you’ll find Traceables - images that you can trace into your Bible (or journal/sketchbook) and Printables. Some of the Printables (images that can be printed at home) can be made into DIY stickers that can be used for your Bible Art Journaling projects.
