Paper crafters always have tons of scraps from their paper projects and those scraps are wonderful for Mixed Media and Collage Paintings on canvas, board or paper. These projects were samples from an in-person art class at the Refinery (in Saskatoon, Sask) from a few years ago.

Rock Art Painting continues to be one of my most popular art classes - both in-person and online! Anyone can paint on rocks. This photo was from a class that I taught at Kennedy’s Parable in Saskatoon, Sask, Canada. I’ve taught this class at many venues for youth gatherings and for adults. It’s always a great time!

I adore foam plate printing - it is fun for all ages, is an economical way to print and you can create marvellous effects by adding doodles and fine details with other art supplies after the printing process is completed and the paint is dry. It is easier and simpler than it looks, but my techniques elevates the process and creates stunning effects.

Creating a Collage with a variety of papers is super fun, relaxing and gives us another chance to let our creativity loose! This is from an in-person art class that was taught at The Refinery (in Saskatoon, Sask) some years ago and remains a favourite project of mine to this day.

We had such a fun class at Soul Paper (one of my favourite shops in Saskatoon) some years ago where I taught how to create gorgeous tag art by using some techniques to incorporate watercolours, washi tape, calligraphy pens (with nibs) and shapes. The tags continue to be some of my top class favourites and look amazing framed on the wall.

I taught a longer class at Soul Paper some years ago (one of my favourite shops in Saskatoon) where we created a little book in class that became a record of watercolour techniques, colours, quotes and inspiration. SO. MUCH. FUN.

One of my favourite classes to teach in-person is “Mixed Media Canvas”. I bring a ton of art supplies and a bajillion stencils with the emphasis on discovering how to work in layers, experimenting with art supplies (such as spray paint, stencils, etc), and giving yourself permission to try something new. My students often walk away excited, with a sparkle in their eyes, feeling inspired to paint more at home and with a desire to understand more of their preferences than when they arrived at the class. I love it when students feel empowered to explore their creativity with the tips and tools from class.

Using gorgeous watercolour paper, The Stoneground Paint Company watercolours, shapes for stencils and paint brushes, we made a number of handmade Christmas cards at Soul Paper (a favourite shop). Seeing the photos makes me want to create more of these lovely cards.

In 2021, I taught a class at Kennedy’s Parable Cafe (in Saskatoon, Sask, Canada) called, “Laminate This!” I’ve taught this class a few times and it is always a favourite. We colour pre-printed tags and bookmarks - these ones were sold at Kennedy’s Parable at the time, designed by artist, Stephanie Ackerman and printed by Adorn-It (a US company). Once the students finish colouring and decorating the bookmarks and tags, we laminate it and then add ribbon or yarn to decorate it further. It is always a hit - for all ages and all abilities. :-)
