Finding a Moment to Create…
It has been a very different December so far. I wasn’t planning on researching website platforms this month but here I am, working hard on a new website and getting excited about new online courses that I’m sure will delight many of you.
For the past few years, I’ve offered a free course during this month and this year it just isn’t possible. I am a wee bit sad about that. But I’m also now so excited for the possibilities in 2024 and how the plans are almost effortlessly arranging themselves in my mind.
In the meantime, I’ve still needed to create some art and feed my soul, but in simple, fun ways that I can start and stop without any big time commitment. Did I ever find a delightful way to do this! A lovely friend held a birthday celebration event for herself and asked me to create some artwork that could be framed in small frames from the thrift store (4 x 6 inches) and that worked out so well that I promptly created more (for myself) after the event was finished. Lol!! Here are the uncoloured black and white words with doodles (see photo below).
Some of them are Christmas themed and some are not. I envision them strung up on a wall, clipped to string with binders clips (similar to how you can clip up Christmas Cards to string). What a delightful and easy display this could be. :)
I hope this inspires you to create some art! I used simple supplies - a brush with black ink inside it (from Art Placement, a local art store) and I pre-cut the papers ahead of time so that I could write/draw on them as I had time. I might colour them yet but I do think they look rather striking as a set in black and white. Would you enjoy printing them at home and using them to decorate your space for Christmas? I’d love to know. Please feel free to email me at hello@aglimpseofjoy.com and let me know your thoughts!
I hope you have a lovely week preparing for Christmas and doing all the things you do,
Heidi.
