Pelikan Hubs 2024

I’m excited to announce that Pelikan has announced their Pelikan Hubs 2024 registration is open! I have applied to be a Hub Master this year which is a fancy way of saying organizer or host.

I’d like to invite you to join me on September 27th, 2024.

In order to attend, you must register before June 24th. Use the button below to get connected to their website so that you can register!

If you are not in my city of Saskatoon - you might be interested in seeing if a city near you has a Hub. Every Hub needs at least 8 registrants (I believe) before it can offically become a Hub.

As registration has JUST opened up today (May 23rd), I’ll let you know where the event will be at another time and if I’ve been accepted to be Hub Master. Remember - we need at least 8 people to hold this event! I encourage you to register, if you have interest, even if you are not quite sure if you’ll be able to commit to attending.

So what is Pelikan Hubs 2024?

Pelikan is a company in Hannover, Germany which products excellent inks and luxury fountain pens. They have an array of pens for every taste and budget. A well known name and brand that has been around since 1838, they have created the Hubs experience to connect pen and ink lovers around the world. It’s great advertising, builds brand exposure and builds community around luxury fountain pens and inks!

What happens during a Hub?

Everyone around the world will meet at the same day and time - Sept 27th at 6:30 pm. The Hub Master will receive a shipment from Pelikan and they’ll gift the items to each registrant who attends the Hub. Some years we’ve received ink, a marker, a really nice pad of paper, a magazine and items like that. Pelikan has been very generous! We will have a group draw for a variety of items. We will also take a group picture and sign our names on the Pelikan Hubs flag. Food and drink will be available for you to purchase.

Attendees are encouraged to take a few photos of their art or journal, inks, pens, of each other, etc and to share them on social media after the event.

My journal from Pelikan Hubs 2019.

Attending a Hub is a chance to get to know other ink and pen lovers, an opportunity to build community and to show and tell about your collection of pens and ink (not just the Pelikan brand!) if you have some.

Please DO come if you are new to the world of pen and inks! It’s a great place to learn in a welcoming and supportive environment.

I encourage you to ask questions! For those who know a bit about pens and inks - I’d love for you to share your invaluable knowledge and passion for it to those who are interested. If you enjoy journaling or drawing with inks of any kind, we encourage you to bring some of your work to show the group.

Let’s be kind, be courteous and be generous!

With the spirit of generosity from past Hubs, I will encourage everyone to bring a little something to share with the other registrants (if you are able - there is no pressure to do so). You can choose to gift something to each person or add an item or two to our group draw. Everyone will go home with something! You might consider bringing a small vial of ink, an empty vial container, suction bulbs for ink, a small notebook, a pen/ink related print, a like-new pen that you don’t use anymore or something small that doesn’t cost much that can be enjoyed someone else.

Don’t worry if you don’t recognize all of the items in this photo - they are some ideas of various tools that you can use with inks, pens and for journaling that might be great for our draw.

Many of us also bring our own inks for the group to take a look at and to try. It’s a great way to discover your next must-have ink! Always ask the owner of the ink whether you can fill your fountain pen with a bit of their ink or if you an test it out.

That’s it for now. I have deeply enjoyed the gatherings in the past - it has brought me a lot of joy and I hope that you will enjoy it as well!

Email me with questions at info@aglimpseofjoy.ca or go directly to the Pelikan Hubs website to find more information. I’ll write more about it in the months to come.

P.S. I am not paid to promote this event - I simply enjoy attending and look forward to this fun evening!
